The areas surrounding Grand Rapids are well-known for their many family farms and orchards. Even if you can’t venture down every winding road and chat with the farmers at their roadside stands, there are times during the week that you can get a taste of the farm by heading to some of the many farmers markets in West Michigan. Here are just a few:
Ada Farmers Market
While Ada is a small village, it boasts an impressive farmers market. This year, the market runs from June 10 to October 28 on every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Community Church in downtown Ada. Vendors from all around the West Michigan area sell produce all summer long, from strawberries in June, to zucchini and tomatoes in July, and raspberries in August. There are also sweet treats such as cookies, pastries and pies. Musicians often play at the market in the afternoon, and it is a very kid-friendly environment, with children’s activities every week. Just to the north of Ada along the Rogue River is the Rockford Farmers Market.
