A Dill-Lightful Eating Experience

If you’re in a pickle trying to decide where to go for lunch, the Toasted Pickle is an easy choice.

Its Grand Haven location — located at 112 Washington Ave — is easily identified by its green (pickle-colored) exterior, inviting visitors to come and try its sweet, salty, and dilly offerings. An entire wall on the inside pays homage to pickles too — specifically shop founder Karen Zuckus Avery’s father Papa Zeke who used to make homemade pickles.

The Rockford location — at 17 Squires Street Square NE — features the restaurant’s flaming pickle logo on window coverings, offering a hint of the tasty offerings inside.

Everything was so delicious!!!! There was about a 15 minute wait to get into the restaurant, but it was so worth it. The workers are friendly and they looked like they were having a lot of fun. The green goddess grilled cheese was SO good, and so were the pickle poppers and the truffle fries. I 100% recommend trying this restaurant. I’m definitely glad I got to while I was in town!

The fun doesn’t stop when customers leave the shop either. While the Toasted Pickle’s food and vibe ooze comfort, they keep the fun going online where computer-savvy customers can play Pickle Shooter on the shop’s website — think Galaga but with pickles!

So Many Dill-lectable Options

Pickles are the perfect complement to any meal — a crunchy companion to a towering sandwich or a tangy topping on a juicy burger.

At the Toasted Pickle, devotees of all things dill don’t have to look far to find something scrumptious. Why? Because pickles can be found in everything from cocktails to apps to main courses — they can even be ordered on their own!

Found on a mid afternoon lunch date and was thrilled. Food was delicious and quickly made the restaurant is cute and so fun to just enjoy the area. I recommend this spot anytime someone is going to the area. Loved it. Will be back.

Start your meal with a refreshing drink, including the Pickled Bloody Mary — which includes vodka with a pickle tang with a boozy pickle and bacon — or try the “Get Pickled” Lemonade — lemonade, vodka, and melon liqueur served with a boozy cucumber.

For customers who enjoy non-alcoholic drinks, Toasted Pickle’s lemonade is highly recommended. It’s freshly squeezed and offered in more than a dozen flavors including pineapple, cherry lime, and strawberry basil.

Move on to shareables, where hungry customers can dig into delights like deep-fried pickles — crunchy, crispy dill spears with a side of ranch dipping sauce, jumbo dill pickles or the famous Pickle Poppers — pickle spears and pimento cheese sauce wrapped in dough and fried.

When it’s time for the main course, visitors have no shortage of options, including classic soups, salads, and sandwiches — which come with a pickle on the side, of course — including grilled cheese sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, and pork sandwiches with fun names like the Tipsy Texan, the High Nooner and the Sixie From Dixie.

Keep an eye on their Facebook page too, because the Toasted Pickle is always coming up with new, delicious menu items.

For the pickle-inclined, the Full Crusty Cuban features sweet and spicy pickles alongside bacon and pulled pork. The “Get Pickled” Grilled Cheese is an original, with cheddar cheese, pimento cheese sauce, bacon, and two kinds of pickles. The Nashville Hottie is another tasty favorite, featuring sweet and spicy pickles, a crispy chicken breast, coleslaw, serrano crema, and Toasted Pickle hottie sauce on a bun.

If you really want to amp up the flavor on any sandwich, order it with extra sauce from the many offerings, including Kickin Pickle Sauce, Pickle Hottie Sauce, Pickle Pesto, Pimento Cheese Sauce, and Toasted Pickle BBQ Sauce.

DID YOU KNOW: The Nashville Hottie and the Green Goddess — a grilled cheese made with cheddar cheese, goat cheese, pesto, and avocado were once featured on the Food Network?

Whether you’re an unabashed fan of pickles or not, there’s something for everyone on the menu to enjoy for a light lunch, a full dinner, or a night out with friends and family.
