Moonlight Cross Country Skiing

Located in Burchfield Park just south of Lansing, you will find moonlight skiing on Friday nights from 6 PM to 9 PM. The park rents out everything you need from skis to boots for a reasonable price. Paths are made to follow and lined by small glow bulbs to light the way (how romantic?). Once you are finished, you can get warm by the fire outside the lodge and spend some quality time together. Be sure to check out all the cross-country ski trails in Mid-Michigan.

Snow Snake Winter Tubing

I like to think of it as “extreme sledding.” Snow Snake is found in Harrison, directly off of US127. Here you can buy a tubing pass and spend all day and into the night sliding around on your tube and laughing together. Lifts bring you up the hill and a worker will push you from the top to increase speed and maximize fun. Have kids? It’s perfect for the whole family! Here is a list of other places to snow tub.

Hike the Falling Waters Trail

Can you imagine those mornings when you wake up and snow is lining the trees? The air is still after a storm and the fresh snow on the ground is waiting to be played in. You may have to work, but that evening is when you pack up and hit a trail like the Falling Waters Trail in Jackson. Winter walks are beautiful when the landscape is similar to that in a Christmas movie. It’ll be a nice step away from reality for both of you. There are so many places to snowshoe throughout Michigan.

Attend a College Hockey Game

So this one is for all of you who aren’t fond of snow, the cold, or winter in general. Getting out with your loved one to a hockey game is a great way to blend a winter activity with the comforts of being indoors. You can holler and root for your favorite team while sipping on hot chocolate and holding the hand of your date. After the game if you want to try your hand at ice skating check out one of these rinks.

Midland City Forest

Midland City Forest boasts a 520-acre nature park that includes activities from a toboggan run, an outdoor ice rink, sled hills, and cross country skiing. At night, the park is lit up and makes for a perfect romantic getaway filled with fun. A chalet in the park is equipped with a beautiful stone fireplace and offers hot chocolate and a window to watch all of the outdoor action while warming up on your break. The area also offers 11 miles of hiking trails which are open year-round and can be perfect for activities like snowshoeing.

Be sure to check out these other winter activities throughout Michigan and Mid-Michigan.
