Hike the Presque Isle River Waterfalls Loop

There is nothing quite like summer in Michigan. The weather is warm, but not terribly hot most days, and there are so many outdoor activities to enjoy. One of the best Michigan summer things to do has to be taking a hike on the Presque Isle River Waterfalls Loop in the Upper Peninsula.

About the Presque Isle River Waterfalls Loop

The Presque Isle River Waterfalls Loop trail is located in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. It provides scenic views of the fast-running Presque Isle River, where you will even see some areas of rapids. This loop is most known for the three waterfalls that you will see along the way. These are Nawadaha Falls, Manido Falls, and Manabezho Falls, with Manabezho Falls measuring an impressive 25 feet high.

During this 2.3-mile hike, you will go through sections that include forested trails, boardwalks, and even a suspension bridge. When you start on the loop, you will cross a suspension bridge to follow along the east river trail. There are fantastic views along the way. Once you pass the Nawadaha Falls, you will come to another bridge. This bridge will link you to the West River Trail. You can follow this trail to loop around and find your way back to where you parked.
