While the Detroit Lions may not have been setting any records this season, Ford Field may be listed in the record books for an entirely different reason. On Saturday February 22nd, people will fill the downtown landmark for Yoga Rocks Ford Field. With an anticipated 3,000 participants, this event could set the record for the largest single indoor yoga class.
Presented by Come Play Detroit and Yoga Shelter, the event will not only showcase the Detroit Lions’ commitment to the health and wellness of Detroit, but it will also highlight some other awesome happenings in the Motor City. With the purchase of a $30 ticket, patrons will not only be able to participate in the class (and have secure, free parking!) but they will also have the opportunity to take a bus tour of the city.
The bus tour will be provided by D:Hive, a storefront that serves as a welcome center to the city, providing information on job opportunities, community events, places to live in Detroit, and (most importantly) a personalized connection with each visitor. Not only does the experienced staff at D:Hive help newcomers connect with and thrive in the city, they also offer unique introductions to the area through their tours.
The bus tour offered in conjunction with Yoga Rocks Ford Field will feature landmarks including Belle Isle, the Riverfront, Eastern Market, and more. And don’t forget, this tour is completely included in the $30 ticket price; after exploring the Motor City via tours, I can attest to what an incredible bargain that is.
The other obvious inclusion in the ticket price is the class itself. Nationally renowned instructor Eric Paskel will be teaching the session, and participants of all skill levels will benefit from his unique style that rocks and awakens. (As a complete yoga novice, I would like to again emphasize that individuals of ALL ages and skill levels will be able to enjoy the event.) And at the end of the session, Ford Field will erupt in a dance celebration.
Not only will the event be fun, enlightening, and record-breaking, it will also be charitable; Yoga Rocks Ford Field will be benefiting the Yoga by Design Foundation, which provides fitness programs to underserved populations.
So head down to Ford Field on Saturday the 22nd to be a part of an historic event, explore Detroit, get your morning workout in, and to have some good old fashion fun!
And be sure to check out the other great tours offered by D:Hive!
