Traverse City Beer Week: It has finally arrived and is undoubtedly one of the best weeks of the year. Though it is literally impossible to squeeze in every single event; read on to discover which ones I have chosen as “must-do’s” this week:
Monday, November 10th at 7PM: Right Brain Brewery’s Beer dinner with Chef Mike
Five courses of beautifully prepared food, each paired specifically with a Right Brain craft beer. Courses one through five include a carrot salad, ceviche on top of a Concrete Dinosaur pilaf, gazpacho, Choucroute a L’Right Brain, and spent grain blini trifle. All of these are made by Right Brain’s head chef, Mike Meador. Dear friends, let’s just say, if you have yet to try food prepared by Chef Mike, you will want to attend this event. Tickets are $25 and rolling out quickly.
Tuesday, November 11th at 6PM: Short’s Beer and Cake Pairing at Aerie inside the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
I love cake almost more than I love beer. I honestly believe they created this event solely for me. As we all know, Short’s Brewing Company never disappoints and this is a great time of year to view the seasonal lights at the Grand Traverse Resort. Tickets are $15 per person and the view from Aerie is unbeatable.
Wednesday, November 12th at 3PM: Exclusive beer releases at Rare Bird Brewpub
New beer! Rare Bird Brewpub is fairly new to Traverse City, if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, this is a great excuse to get down there for a flight of their existing beer and to sample some of the new releases.
Thursday, November 13th at 7PM: Brewtopia at Right Brain Brewery
Yet another beer and food pairing presented by Chef Mike and beertender, Jessi Laffin, at Right Brain. This one, however, features four courses of small plates. Brewtopia is an event that occurs almost monthly and this one was crafted especially for Traverse City’s beer week. Tickets are cheap, too; a mere $7 per person.
Friday, November 14th at 7PM: Farm to Ferment at Brewery Ferment
An educational event that includes samples of Brewery Ferment‘s beer. Specifically, this event will highlight the beer that utilizes locally sourced ingredients.
Saturday, November 15th at 10AM: The Great Beerd Run 5K
This Fun Run starts and ends at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa under the Pavilion tent. The 5K run has beer tastings along the course, which, for obvious reasons, means it is an untimed run. The participating breweries include Right Brain, Beard’s Brewery, and Short’s Brewing Company. After the run, there is a beer tent, a “Best Beard” contest, music, and food.
Honestly though, these are just my favorite events that feature some of my favorite breweries. Tons of breweries are involved in hundreds of activities. Take a peak at the full schedule and find out which ones will make you happiest. This week is going to be pure delight; I hope to see you out and tasting great beer! Cheers.
