Love movies? Plan on watching the Academy Awards? This year, indulge yourself in a little glamour while supporting a great cause. On February 24th, Habitat for Humanity hosts its annual Red Carpet Bash in Detroit. Anyone who has ever longed for the movie star treatment can get a little taste, as event attendees get a chance to walk the red carpet like a celebrity before finding their seats at the Max M. Fisher Music Center and Orchestra Hall, home of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. If hunger strikes, the event features a strolling dinner by Forte Belanger.
Before the Oscars, enjoy the Habbie Awards, a chance for Habitat for Humanity to recognize fellow metro Detroiters for their service and support. Awards include Construction Volunteer of the Year, ReStore Volunteer of the Year, Habitat Detroit Homeowner of the Year, and the Scot Norris Super Hero Award. Once the local honors are bestowed, watch the Hollywood stars shine in luxury from your chair at the Max.
This year’s ceremony is presented by Ford Motor Company, and the proceeds will go towards eliminating poverty housing in Detroit. With your support, Habitat for Humanity can continue to provide low-income, hardworking families with affordable housing. So come out, enjoy a chance to rub elbows with fellow Detroit movie lovers, and help improve your community.
Share your favorite volunteer experience for a chance to win a pair of tickets to this year’s Red Carpet Bash. We’ll announce the winner on Monday, February 18!
