After attempting the record for hosting the largest single indoor yoga class in February, Ford Field will once again be a part of history this summer. On June 13th, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) will be taking over the Lion’s home turf to host Michigan’s largest ever career matchmaking summit, bringing employers and job seekers together with Pure Michigan DREAMJOB.
With over 100 companies looking to fill nearly 1,000 jobs, applicants will have ample opportunity to find exactly the career they are looking for. And as the event is invitation only (with the MEDC reviewing all applicants prior to the summit), companies and job seekers alike are guaranteed to be presented only with serious, qualified candidates and organizations.
Among these established companies are both large and growing Michigan organizations, from automotive powerhouses such as General Motors, to the Detroit powerhouse Quicken Loans, and other nationally recognized companies (Whirlpool, Nissan, Ford; the list obviously is extensive). And it’s not just the employers that are big names: in addition to being hosted by the MEDC, the event is Governor-driven, as well.
“Talent is one of Michigan’s most valuable advantages for growing businesses and Pure Michigan DREAMJOB will bring together both companies and jobseekers to build their futures here,” Governor Rick Snyder remarks. “It will be the knowledge, skills, and hard work of our workforce that separate Michigan from others in a competitive global marketplace. This is a showcase opportunity for all that makes Michigan a great place to live, work, build a business, and enjoy our unique quality of life.”
Quality of life will, in fact, be another focal point of Pure Michigan DREAMJOB. Local partners will be present to promote regional and community assets, educating Michigan job seekers on living and working in Michigan. The conference will even be offering some travel stipends to potential candidates for whom extensive travel is necessary to attend Dream Job.
With some of the best jobs and employers in the nation, the MEDC is working to grow what is already a formidable work force right here in the mitten.
Though the deadline for applying to Pure Michigan DREAMJOB has passed, Pure Michigan Talent Connect is a year-round resource for job seekers, with over 70,000 positions available across the state! Be sure to like Pure Michigan Talent Connect on Facebook and follow on Twitter!
