Party in the Pantry

Traverse City knows food. Our local cuisine attracts people from all over the world. The music scene is exploding and producing some of the most lively, upbeat music that I have ever seen live. And of course, the spirited beverages are flowing generously. The brewers and vintners in this region have created products so skillfully mastered that it is continuously receiving international attention. What could be better than combining all three of these arts on a regular basis? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Behold: Party in the Pantry, the local production that is a cooking show accompanied by live musical entertainment.

Many talented people have come together to make this magical process a success. Chefs, musicians, brewers, vintners, producers, directors, photographers, designers, and life enthusiasts are all putting their work and passionate personalities into making this dream a reality. DC Hayden, producer and director, states that Party in the Pantry was inspired by videographers in Minneapolis who created, “For You by You” productions. “They worked to inspire and build community,” Hayden explained, “and I want to do the same for Traverse City.”

Party in the Pantry aims for episodes to by 15 minutes in length, which requires about six hours of filming. Each episode will feature a different chef, musical guest, brewer/vintner/distiller, theme song, and illustrator. To emphasize Traverse City’s abundance of diverse offerings, Hayden wants each episode to be as visually and stylistically different from each other as possible. Working with such talented and artistic individuals is making this goal a reality. Hayden filled me in on his ideas on a potential future episode, which includes an outdoor camping theme. Scouting an area can be difficult though, Hayden mentioned, “It’s not about any one element,” he explained, “but about all of the elements coming together seamlessly.”

Currently, Party in the Pantry is seeking advertisers. It is now funded by the hardworking individuals that are the creators behind it.
