Put on your drinking caps, friends! Northern Michigan has three (yes, THREE) amazing events taking place in one fabulous weekend. If you plan everything out perfectly, you can attend all three of these sensational drinking affairs.
Awesome Mitten readers are well versed in the deliciousness that Right Brain Brewery creates. Collaboration Day is going to be the essence of a beer drinker’s heaven. This free, all-day event features releases of collaborative beers from Tandem Ciders, Paw Paw Brewing Company, Liberty Street Beer Company, Greenbush Brewing Company, Bravo Zulu Brewing, Northern Natural Cider House, and B. Nektar Meadery. Additionally, Right Brain’s own employees have concocted recipes for the Right Brain brewers to create, each of which will undoubtedly establish a delightful feeling in your heart. Live music featuring Delilah Dewylde & the Lost Boys and the Sourmash Band starts at 6pm, after which there will be a $5 cover. These brews are rare and limited, so get there at noon, avoid the cover charge, and sample each collaboration.
Taste the Passion, Leelanau Peninsula – February 7th and 8th
February demands romance. Taste the Passion is ideal for an amorous day that is far from the ordinary. 22 Leelanau Peninsula wineries will be featuring pairings of wine, chocolate, and other desserts. Tickets are $35 and include a pairing at each of the participating wineries, in addition to a souvenir glass. Dress warm, too! Some of the wineries, such as Chateau de Leelanau, are embracing the winter fun and creating outdoor adventures. They will be pairing s’mores with their wine, and encouraging tasters to cook their own over an open fire. S’mores and pours! Does it get any better? For the truly adventures, pack up those snowshoes and complete the trek between Blustone Vineyards, 45 North Vineyards and Winery, and Tandem Ciders. It’s going to be an action-packed, delicious day.
Winter Microbrew and Music Festival, Sara Harding Parking Lot, February 7th
It’s back! The 6th annual Winter Microbrew and Music Festival returns with over 50 breweries and four stages of live music. Food trucks and local vendors will help you stay warm at this outdoor event, however, there will be heated tents to help in that department as well. This year the festival features a rare beer tour, which will make stops at many brewery tents and tap a specialty or sour beer every 30 minutes. The festival runs from 4pm-10pm on February 7th and tickets are $45.
Attending any one of these events guarantees a great experience to try many Michigan beverages. No matter what you choose, your palette is going to be satisfied.
