the many bars Mt. Pleasant has to offer. I had heard so much from the hungover kid sitting next
to me in class on Friday morning. So, with many choices, here are the bars I will definitely be
going back to, each for their own “best.”

    Best beer: Mountain Town Station

Mountain Town is a must visit for anyone who has an interest in craft beer, and anyone who
doesn’t. The bar/restaurant is located downtown in an old train station. While sitting at the bar,
drinkers can see exactly where their beer is being made. In fact, the beer could not be more
fresh. It is pumped from the bright tanks where it is stored and flows directly to the bar tap. Eight beers
are always on tap, one being a seasonal selection. Currently, drinkers can even enjoy a chocolate beer
called Skadoozle. Brewer Laren Avery uses recipes from the Brew Master Kim Kowalski for
the regular beers, but can use whatever he can get his hands on for seasonal beers. “It is the
fascination that drives it,” he said. His fascination can be felt throughout the entire restaurant.

Best place to go with friends: O’Kelly’s Sports Bar and Grill

O’Kelly’s Sports Bar and Grill is located conveniently across the street from the Central Michigan
University Campus. Attached to the bar is a nightclub, Wayside Central. O’Kelly’s is a great
place to go with friends because there is something for everyone and it is always full of people. O’Kelly’s is
only 21 and up but 18 and up are allowed into Wayside. The bar sponsors events throughout the
year such as a St. Patrick’s Day beer tent. Celebrities like J Woww from Jersey Shore have also
made an appearance. O’Kelly’s offers great daily lunch specials, ladies night (no cover) is on
Fridays and Tuesdays are pint night ($1 pints of beer).

    Best first date: The Cabin

Step inside of the log cabin and grab a drink: it is sure to be more than just a relaxing evening up north. The
Cabin has excellent pizza and excellent drinks. At the end of the night, you can even
impress your date with a bit of karaoke. Go on a Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday night for a 2
    topping large pizza for $5.99.

Best deals: The Bird Bar and Grill

Friday night is the perfect time to wind down from the week. The perfect place to do so is at The
Bird Bar and Grill for $3 pitchers of beer. The Bird Bar
and Grill is located downtown and close to everything.

Best place to escape college life: Mount Pleasant Brewing Company

The Mount Pleasant Brewing Company was established in 2007 for manufacturing and
packaging the same craft beers that are served at Mountain Town Station. Craft beers made right
in Mt. Pleasant are sent all over the state and northern Indiana. The brewing company
has an area for tasting the beers without the loudness of a traditional bar. Each beer is sure to
