  1. Thanks to Tyler for letting us know about Boney Park Ice Rink – located in Fairview, MI. It’s an outdoor rink with over 33,000 sqft of ice and is provided by Commins Township. A full-sized hockey rink with 4′ boards and a large open rink can be enjoyed 24/7 with lights and a warming hut.

  2. How in the world do you have a list of the best indoor/outdoor skating rinks in Michigan and leave out Hoyt Park in Saginaw? This place was a staple for us growing up. It had space for several pick-up hockey games, plenty of open skating, a warming house, sled hill, and toboggan runs.
I heard the city couldn’t afford to keep up with it for some years when I had moved out of state, but I believe some gentlemen have taken it upon themselves to bring it back to life. To me, it was something out of a Norman Rockwell painting, just on a much larger scale. It was my understanding that it would have been the largest skating rink in the world if it had been more than seasonal. Fact check that if you want because I heard that as a young teen and that was a very long time ago.
