Letter from the Editor: there’s no place like Michigan for the holidays

Dear Readers,

I received my first Baabaazuzu mittens in 2010.

The holiday season is upon us! Up here in the great white north, I’ve broken out my Sorel boots, Baabaazuzu fingerless mittens (which I picked up at their 20th anniversary party just last week!), and a whole slew of winter coats, accessories, and toys. I’m looking forward to getting out on the trails in my cross-country skis and to hikes at the Commons in my snowshoes. I may even (gasp) finally learn how to downhill ski this year!

But enough about me and my love for Michigan winters. Team Awesome has been hard at work churning out some fabulous content and December will be no different. As we gear up for Michigan’s 177th birthday in January, here are some things you can look forward to during the holiday season at The Awesome Mitten:

Joanna’s recap of Failure: Lab Detroit and her overview of Ann Arbor floral studio pot & box

Amy’s statewide Christmas event roundup

-A story about the new shopping app Givinci by Lyndsay

-Some information and a GIVEAWAY from Never Wonder Studios put together by Jennifer, as well as her second installment from Live Love Michigan

-A list of must-try seasonal selections from our favorite Michigan breweries compiled by Chaz

-A recap of Jennifer B’s first foray into the Detroit Zoo for Wild Lights

-An overview of Handmade Kalamazoo by Lindsey

-And our monthly pastie update from Julie and Beth, Claire’s artist of the month, Aram’s Michigan Books Project, Rebecca’s philanthropy suggestions, the latest from the UP with Jesse, and more!
