Dearest Michiganders,

The temperature hasn’t hit 70 today. This is one of the many reasons why I’m having a very hard time believing that August is almost here. How? Why? Where did Summer 2014 disappear to? My standard operating procedures (i.e. swimming twice a day and drinking beer on the beach) have been mangled by less-than-savory conditions.

Regardless, I’m still finding great ways to immerse myself in northern Michigan summertime (no, not “Summertime in Northern Michigan.” Never that). Attending outdoor events is still enjoyable when the temperature is slightly cooler, and my zero-pigment skin is happy enduring a little less sun than normal.

Enjoying the best outdoor bar scene Traverse City has to offer.

We’re gearing up for a fun August, nonetheless. Keep your eyes on this site for the following great stories:

-Intern Anthony’s last story, detailing the 28th Street Metro Cruise,
-Maureen’s list of favorite state parks,
-A detailed description of Grand Rapids vintage street markets from Ashlyn,
-Jacey’s coverage of the Capital City Food Court,
-A recap of the Grand Haven Salmon Festival from Lyndsay,
-Jennifer’s depiction of a new event, the Traverse City Glow Run,
-Chaz’s memories from Hoxeyville Music Festival,

… and more!

I like to think that I’m just a simple northern Michigan twentysomething who loves good craft brews, great wine, summertime grillouts, and well-roasted coffee. I'm also a dedicated yoga practitioner, social media and marketing enthusiast, reader and writer, local food junkie, and outdoors explorer--and I'm always adding to the list. If you want to know something about what's going on in Traverse City, chances are I know about it and it's even more likely that I'm involved in it. I love this town and I love helping to make it shine.
