A fresh, new, organic market is planting roots in the Midwest with 27 locations cropping up in the past year throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, Missouri, and our favorite, Michigan! The newest market opened to great community fanfare yesterday in the Trowbridge Plaza in East Lansing.
Fresh Thyme markets aim to combine the relaxed feel of a weekend farmers market with the convenience of a neighborhood store at refreshingly low prices. The markets boast that produce is so important for building healthy, growing communities that they’ve made the produce section the center hub of their stores. They’ve also abandoned traditional grocery stores designs of tall, glittering aisles or confusing product placement. Fresh Thyme markets are divided into simple, easy to find departments with the abundant produce section in view from all departments. Fresh Thyme Farmers Markets contain a lean seafood department, fresh handmade sausage and natural meat selection, fresh baked bread, over 300 natural, organic bulk food items, and a local selection of authentic craft beer and wine. Undoubtedly my favorite part of Fresh Thyme markets will be the organic salad bar and made to order sandwiches!
Fresh Thyme in East Lansing will be open 7 days a week from 7am – 10pm daily. Midwesterners can find more information about Fresh Thyme by following the East Lansing location on Facebook for daily recipes and specials. During the grand opening weekend, there will be a plethora of activities including Bells’s Brewery tastings, cooking demonstrations from a local dietician, face painting , Boar’s Head hot dog cart and numerous giveaways.
Make sure to check out their large selection of local, Michigan made products and report back to share your favorites with other Awesome Mitten fans!
