When people think of wineries or wine country, Michigan may not be the first state that comes to mind. However, our state is home to a surprising number of hidden gem Michigan wineries waiting to be explored.

Personally, I have spent a lot of time trying out different wineries all over the state of Michigan. By doing so, I have gotten the chance to experience so many different wines and take in the beautiful sights of lovely vineyards that are spread across the state.

I have found that Michigan is one of the best places to enjoy wineries, vineyards, and all different kinds of wines. Located all across the beautiful state, these are 7 hidden gem Michigan wineries you need to experience for yourself.

Whole Hearted Winery | New Hudson

Located in the small charming town of New Hudson, Whole Hearted Winery is one of my favorite local wineries. This place has exceptional service and wine.

They have many customization options including a free wine label to put on any bottle of wine that you purchase. Some of their wines even feature rotating wine with glitter inside!

Whole Hearted Winery hosts numerous events every month. Some of these events include yoga and wine, live music, cookie decorating and wine and so much more! They even feature food trucks for additional food options as well.

Their menu features a yummy selection of food that includes pretzel bites, deep-dish pizza, hummus, and a charcuterie board. The owners of this winery are extremely welcoming and friendly and it makes the atmosphere of the place feel so cozy.

Cherry Creek Cellars | Brooklyn

Cherry Creek Cellars is a hidden gem in Brooklyn, Michigan, with tasty wine and food. Some of their food features delicious selections such as bread and oil, flatbreads, french onion dip, charcuterie boards, and more.

They have a wonderful selection of wines to choose from or to build a wine flight with different variations of wine to try. The inside seating area is filled with different trinkets and gift ideas perfect for any wine lover. The views of the vineyard are gorgeous and they have a beautiful outdoor seating area as well.

Sandhill Crane Vineyards in Jackson, MI

Sandhill Crane Vineyards is one of my favorite wineries to go to, even in the winter. There are gorgeous views of the vineyards and when you drive in you are welcomed with rows and rows of grapes.

With outdoor seating with firepits, they routinely have live music and a great wine selection. Their menu also features a tasty selection of food which includes hummus, cheese plate, and some weekend snacks that include pretzels, popcorn, and almonds.

The staff are extremely welcoming and knowledgeable regarding all their different selections of wine.

Round Barn Winery | Baroda

I came across Round Barn Winery over the summer when I was on a trip to Benton Harbor. It was a detour from our travels but it was worth it as this winery is absolutely delightful and unique.

The building is shaped exactly like the name, a round barn that sits on the property and welcomes visitors in. The outdoor seating was gorgeous along with a lot of green open space.

Round Barn Winery has a few tasty pre-selected wine flights along with some craft beer as well. They have a great food selection that is available Friday-Sunday which includes pretzel bites, hummus, fries, mac and cheese, and even more enjoyable food selections.

Karma Vista Vineyards | Coloma

This is truly a hidden gem of wineries in the state of Michigan. I came across Karma Vista Vineyards on a trip to Chicago and fell in love with it. The journey to this winery takes you off the highway and through some country roads.

Once you arrive, you are welcomed with rows and rows of grapes that include the most beautiful vineyard. The views of the vineyard from the inside of the winery are absolutely gorgeous as well.

The owners are extremely friendly and they have so many tasty and award-winning wines.

Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery | Traverse City

With an elevated deck along with the lawn bar, Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery has some of the most gorgeous views of any winery in Traverse City. They even offer a winter trail to hike through March 10th on their property.

The outdoor dining is perfect for summer but the inside is cozy as well for their cold winter months. The inside is beautiful and stocked with gift options and treats that all wine lovers can enjoy. 

Brys Estate has the most delicious charcuterie boards and wine flights that come in a beautiful tower display.

Thunder Bay Winery | Alpena 

This quaint and cozy winery is located in the charming downtown area of Alpena tucked in between different stores. Thunder Bay Winery is perfect to visit in the colder winter months or to add to any summer trip to the Alpena area.

They have a wonderful selection of wines. When I visit I like to do a flight of wine which allows me to try different variations to help me select my favorite bottles of wine to bring home.

A trip to a Michigan winery makes a delightful experience any time of year.

Most wineries have a quaint and cozy indoor spot to grab a glass of wine, some yummy food, and amazing flights of wine. I love to listen to live music, enjoy the views, and try all different kinds of wine all over the lovely state of Michigan.

Regardless of where you live or travel to in Michigan, there is a selection of so many amazing wineries all across our beautiful state. Michigan has its own version of wine country and it is absolutely worth checking out.
