Lake Orion or Fenton don’t seem like places you would think of to get quality Mexican food, however Sagebrush Cantina has changed this. Sagebrush Cantina offers some of the freshest Mexican-American food around.

According to their website, Sagebrush Cantina began in 1996 in Lake Orion by brothers, Zia and Safa Zaraga.  They opened up their Fenton location in June of 2004.  Since then the two restaurants have been wildly successful.   “Every day is busy.  We go on anywhere from a 45 minute to a two and a half hour wait every night of the week,” Kathy McDonaugh, the restaurant manager in Lake Orion, said. Both of the restaurants can be considered local hot spots.   “It’s the place to see and be seen!” McDonaugh added.  The atmosphere of the Sagebrush Cantina is very family friendly and fun.  It’s a great place to go for lunch or have a night out.  McDonaugh says some of the families that go there have been coming back for 12 to 14 years.

Besides having a great atmosphere, Sagebrush Cantina has delicious food.  Their signature item are their fajitas.  The portions at Sagebrush Cantina are huge.  You can get a fajita with steak, chicken, shrimp, vegetarian, or a combination of meat.  Fajitas come with refried beans and rice and also come with warm flour tortillas, pico de gallo, lettuce, cheese, jalapenos, sour cream, and if you ask for it, guacamole.  They come to your table sizzling hot.

Another great item that Sagebrush Cantina offers is their Texas style chili.  You can order almost any meal with a cup of chili or you can order a bowl and have it for your meal.  The chili comes out hot and spicy with red beans and beef.  They top it off with shredded cheese and chopped onion.  It’s really tasty to use the warm tortilla chips that they bring out to scoop up the chili.

All of the food at Sagebrush Cantina is very fresh.  McDonaugh says “the recipes, consistency, quality and freshness,” are what keeps customers coming back. “Everything is prepared daily.”
Sagebrush Cantina has a full bar, and a great selection of tequila.  If you like margaritas, this is a great place to go.  Sagebrush Cantina has nine different margaritas for you to choose from.  They carry 20 different brands of tequila and over 50 varieties.
If great food and atmosphere aren’t enough, the Lake Orion location has entertainment Thursday through Saturday nights.  Thursday night they have live acoustic entertainment and on Friday you can even try out your own singing skills at karaoke night.  Saturday they have live bands starting at 10 p.m.
Sagebrush Cantina is a great place to  bring your family and friends.  So come on out and get some fresh Mexican food every day of the week.   ~Brittany Green, Regional Director
