The English Inn offers luxurious accommodations, delicious cuisine, an extensive as well as nationally recognized wine cellar and a historic country estate which includes a formal English garden. There are six rooms in the main house and four rooms in two cottages that offer all the amenities of a traditional English bed and breakfast. On the garden level, there is an authentic English pub. In the summer months they offer dinning on their patio and on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year they feature a live pianist during dinner hours. The restaurant has won the Lansing’s Best of the Best Award and is a Distinguished Restaurant of North America (DiRoNA). Because of its renown deliciousness, it is recommended that reservations are made in advanced for the restaurant.
Because of the beautiful English gardens or their Pergola on the Grand River, The English Inn is a beautiful setting for a wedding. It also is a fantastic location for receptions of all kinds. The English Inn offers several Halls and rooms that can be used for banquets or conferences.
The history of the English Inn dates back to 1927 when construction was started by Irving Jacob Reuter, the general manager and president of Oldsmobile Corporation. Reuter retired and moved to Florida in 1936 and in 1940 the property fell to the Roman Catholic Church. During its time under church care, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Lansing lived at the English Inn. In 1989, the property was renovated and converted into a bed and breakfast, restaurant, and conference center. By 1991, it was listed in the State Register of Historic Sites. The property is now currently owned and operated by Gary and Donna Nelson.
If you are looking for a romantic weekend for two or a gorgeously elegant wedding then the English Inn is, by far, the best place to go. Because of its elegant banquet halls, the Inn is also a fabulous place to host a relaxing business retreat or meeting! ~Leighanna Whiting, Regional Director
