The Pink Pony bar and restaurant has been in business for more than a 100 years! It all began with two friends who decided to open a business together and they called it the Pink Pony. Since then it has remained in the family, making it a very welcoming establishment.

Located right at on Main Street, the Pink Pony is impossible to miss with its suspended trotting, blush pink pony in front of the entrance.   Once inside, the eye is drawn to a twisting bar with a pink counter that winds around on one side of the building.  The large room has a warm, friendly atmosphere that attracts all passers by inside.  The most famous area of the Pony, however, is the patio.

The Pink Pony patio is located right on Lake Huron next to the harbor and ferry docks.  It’s so great that  it was voted Michigan’s Best Outdoor Patio in 2007. The patio is so captivating

during the summer because people are able to sit and relax, enjoy a drink, and watch the boats, cruise ships, and freighters pass along Lake Huron. The patio is also famous for having one of the most alluring drinks on the island: the Pink Pony Rum Runner.  Nothing else is better in the summer than an ice cool slushy drink.  The Rum Runner is so delicious almost everyone asks for it. But watch out, with these drinks “you have to ask for a floater.”There is a single underlying factor that sets the Pink Pony apart from all the others on Mackinac Island: their friendly service. The friendly upbeat atmosphere that is produced by the staff is one of the reasons why they are so popular. Unlike any other place, you are guaranteed to have a “fun, worthwhile experience” and “walk away with a great memory.” Lily Porter, a bartender for the Pink Pony, will be spending her third summer there and “enjoys the fast paced atmosphere and the fun people [she] work[s] with.”  Another reason why the Pink Pony is so popular is that there is live entertainment every night at 9:30 pm. That’s right, every night.  From Trivia night to live music, the Pink Pony has it all. ~Mel Libby, Regional Director
