As a hub for automobiles and the auto industry, Michigan has played host to a number of impressive Auto Shows in the past.  The upcoming Michigan International Auto Show is no different.  Making a home at the DeVos Place Convocation Center, the Michigan International Auto Show runs Thursday, January 26th to Sunday, January 29th, 2012.  The show incorporates the auto industry, families, and charitable contributions in a huge, multi-day event.  On Thursday, the Auto Show is open from 3pm to 10pm.  On Friday, the show is open from 11am to 10pm.  On Saturday, the show is open from 10am to 10pm and on Sunday the show is open from 10am to 6pm.

This year’s show promises to encompass a number of different events, features, and spotlights.  Throughout the span of four days, the Auto Show is chock full of specials sure to please adults and children alike.  The Michigan International Auto Show of 2012 plans to feature the following: a Million Dollar Motorway, The Dominguez Family Stunt Riders, Auto Show Supercars, Comic Bots, the Meijer Automotive Area, the Gilmore Car Museum Display, Racing Awareness, and the Micro Reality Racecars.

The Million Dollar Motorway was the most popular feature in the 2011 Auto Show and is back with great demand.  The qualified vehicles featured in the Million Dollar Motorway hold retail prices over $100,000 and the grand total of cars displayed in the Motorway is well over $1 million.  In the 2012 Auto Show, the vehicles that are expected to be displayed in the Million Dollar Motorway include:
-Aston Martin Vantage Volante Convertible
-Aston Martin Rapide
-Aston Martin Virage
-Aston Martin DBS Volante
-Bentley GT
-Bentley GTC
-Rolls Royce Ghost
-Maserati QP
-Maserati GT Convertible
-Lamborghini 550 Gallardo Coupe
-Jaguar XKR-S

The Dominguez Family Stunt Riders provide entertainment for all individuals visiting the Auto Show.  The riders will twist, jump, and turn both horizontally and vertically as they perform various stunts and tricks.  Individuals can see the Dominguez Family on:
-Thursday: 430pm and 8pm
-Friday: 430pm and 8pm
-Saturday: 12pm, 430pm, and 8pm
-Sunday: 12pm and 430pm

An additional feature of the Michigan International Auto Show are the Auto Show Supercars.  The cars that are featured in this showcase all boast at least $20,000 in added options and accessories.  The Supercars are as follows:
-Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Coupe
-Chevrolet Camaro 2SS Coupe
-Shelby Mustang GT 500

An impressive feature of the Michigan International Auto Show this year is the display from the Gilmore Car Museum.  The Gilmore Car Museum showcases historic automobiles during the show and is considered to be one of the top five car museums in the United States.  The historic cars that will be displayed this year include:
-1903 Pierce Stanhope
-1910 Loizer
-1924 Marmon Sport Speedster
-1935 Auburn Speedster
-1948 Tucker
-1947 Indian Motorcycle
-1948 Chevy Pickup Street Rod
-1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser

Visit DeVos Place this upcoming week and weekend to take a peek at a display of truly impressive automobiles and performers.  Support our local community, as well as our great state of Michigan in its recognition of the auto industry as a whole.  Tickets can be purchased through the Showspan website and Ticketmaster at a very reasonable price of $10 for adults.  Children ages 6-14 are admitted for $4 and children ages 5 and under are free.  ~Kristin M.
