Coffee shops are the type of hot commodity that takes a real gem to stand out against Starbucks and all of the additional competition.  Madcap Coffee Company successfully holds their ground as one of, if not the, top coffee shops in the Grand Rapids area.  Located on 98 Monroe Center in Grand Rapids, individuals may visit Madcap Coffee Company Monday through Friday 7:00am to 7:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 7:00pm.

Although Madcap Coffee company holds accounts nationally, the shop in Grand Rapids is currently the only retail shop available.  However, we can expect to see expansion within the Madcap Company by mid- to end of year in 2012.  For example, the next retail shop endeavor on the books for Madcap is a shop in Washington D.C. that is slated to be up and running by the middle of 2012.  Not only will this expand the brand and company mission, but this will allow the company to grow into the popularity that it has been given recently.

Products and services available at Madcap may not stray much from the typical coffee shop fare; however the quality, mission, and story behind the beans is what sets the company apart.  Madcap maintains relationships with farmers internationally in order to promote direct trade and sustainability.  For instance, a couple of coffee bean types that Madcap offers come from Colombian brothers who happen to be farmers.  Didier Reinoso and Luis Reinoso are two coffees named after said Colombian brothers, farmers, and neighbors whom Madcap sustains a significant relationship with.  The trade and products available from Madcap Coffee successfully sustain transparency and sustainability through the relationships with the farmers.

An additional unique offering that Madcap provides to its customers is what they term their “Sunday Service.”  On an announcement basis, Madcap runs these occasional events as educational sessions to their customers. “Sunday Service” consists of a sit-down service of coffee education and tastings.  In addition, Madcap pairs small tasting bites to the particular coffee tastings.  “Sunday Services” are offered as walk-in events and free of charge to anyone who is interested.

If you happen to be unaware of how popular and successful Madcap Coffee Company has been in the Grand Rapids area, the shop was recently featured on Delish as one of the top coffee shops in the United States.  Find out what everyone is talking about and stop in while downtown Grand Rapids and grab a hot chocolate, tea, or coffee from Madcap Coffee Company. ~Kristin M.
