Ashley is a full time student at the University of Michigan in Dearborn studying communication with a focus in journalism and public relations.  As if she doesn’t have enough on her plate, she also works part-time at Henry Ford Health Systems in the philanthropy & special events department, and she also works as a Dance Assistant at Diane’s D.A.N.C.E. Centre.

Ashley started scrap-booking her own photos in 7th grade and has transcended her hobby into a full-time business.  At the age of 18 she joined Creative Memories, an online organization that provides information and opportunities to start a scrap-booking business, as well as supplies and tools needed to conduct business ventures.  Becoming an Independent Consultant has allowed Ashley to create many different types of scrapbooks, from memorial books to football yearbooks, using digital scrap-booking supplies through the website.  She says the greatest reward is “keeping caught up with all her own pictures and her family’s.”

In the summer of 2010 Ashley was asked by Wyandotte High School’s football coach to take pictures of the team throughout the season as a volunteer.  Now, she is completing her second season with the team and she is also making personal photo books for many of the players.  These books feature highlights and photos taken throughout their varsity season.  Ashley has also worked with the Wyandotte High School baseball and hockey teams.

In addition to working with high school sports, she creates different types of custom announcements, invitations and posters.  These range from baby announcements and baby books, marriage books, graduation invitations and even a memorial book featuring memories and photos of a late co-worker. The books and various projects she creates feature others personal photos or her own photography.
The photography side is something she is just getting into, transforming her love of taking photos into another business venture.  She has begun by snapping photos for different sports, kids shoots and high school senior pictures.

Ashley’s photography skills were shown even more when she joined Camp Quality as a volunteer photographer in July 2011.  Camp Quality is a camp for kids suffering from cancer, at Camp Copneconic located in Fenton, MI.  She started at Camp Quality as part of the Camp Organizer Committee, planning the camp as a volunteer.  She was soon asked to come on as a volunteer photographer, capturing the fun and energetic atmosphere so prevalent at the volunteer run kids camp.

Ashley’s plans for the future include graduating from the University of Michigan, organizing old family photos while working on her family tree. This Christmas she plans to make some calenders and other various gifts.  By January she already starts getting requests for graduation parties, invitations and senior pictures to keep her very busy.   ~Danielle Gordon, Regional Director
