BRU Fest is back again this year and better than ever. Now in its fourth year, BRU Fest is a favorite of metro-Detroiters, including us here at the Awesome Mitten (I myself featured and attended the event last June). And how could you not be a BRU Fest
enthusiast? On June 14th, the event will bring together good food, great beer, and plenty of fun in support of the Children’s Leukemia Foundation (CLF for short).
Local craft beer lovers and foodies alike will be able to enjoy a casual, fun night at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market for only $39 (or $60 for a VIP ticket granting early entrance, private beer tappings with exclusive food pairings, a larger mug, and more). Get your tickets now, BRU Fest has been known to sell out. BRU Fest has proven to be so popular, in fact, that last year, the event was held twice! As in past years, BRU Fest came the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market in June, but in November, BRU Fest also made its inaugural appearance in Grand Rapids.
As in 2011, 2012, and both events in 2013, the BRU Fest lineup features continued favorites Bagger Dave’s Legendary Burger Tavern, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Bell’s Brewery. Bagger Dave’s, known for their awesomely
delicious burgers, was founded right down the street from the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market in Berkley. Buffalo Wild Wings, the powerhouse-king of wings, has in the past been known to bring some special surprises for BRU Fest attendees (the VIP exclusive dry rub last year was delicious).
And it just wouldn’t be BRU Fest without Bell’s Brewery. Bell’s will be stepping their game up once again this year, providing 22 of their delicious craft beers; old fan favorites like Oberon and Two Hearted Ale will be present, of course, but the extensive list will also include six brews rarely available to the public.
This year will include an awesome addition to the time-tested favorites: BRU Fest 2014 will feature a fundraising BRU Pong Tournament. For just $5, teams of two will be able to enter the single-elimination tournament, and will not only be playing for their own grand prize, but will also represent a CLF patient family.
And it isn’t only the tournament entry fees that go toward this amazing cause. As with every BRU Fest event, all of the proceeds benefit the Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan, a statewide nonprofit organization providing financial, informational, and emotional aid to the families affected by leukemia, lymphoma, and related disorders.
