Big Papa’s Pub and Eatery in Traverse City

Well, here I am back in Traverse City for the summer, folks. I’ve been back at my parents house for almost two weeks and I’m getting a bit of cabin fever, not knowing what to do with all my free time (before spring classes start that is). I’ve been spending a good deal of time eating out, going for runs and hitting up lots of yoga and barre classes over at yen yoga. Bikini body am I right?

Just kidding. My family has been feeding me all too well. Some of that food has (thankfully) included numerous trips over to Big Papas on US 31 in Traverse City. This place you guys. Holy cannoli! I can’t say enough about it. The small pub and eatery can easily be overlooked when speeding down 31, but stopping in for a beer and some appetizers is 2,000% worth it. Yes, 2,000%.

Alright, so I’ve been here lots of times and each one has been better than the last. And they have all ended with the magnificence that is fried bread pudding. Just look at this piece of artwork people!

Dishes that I’ve had – The create your own sandwich, pork tenderloin, corn chowder (my favorite), steak, fried pickles, the pretzel sticks and, of course, the fried bread pudding. This place has a little bit of everything, including lots of delicious beers. Tuesday seems to be Terra Firma day and you can get yourself a few beers for a great price. I definitely recommend the Sleeping Bear Brown ale. I could sip on that ale for centuries and never get tired of it. Seriously.

With all of that being said, you’re all going to stop into Big Papa’s now right? Right. Be sure to check out  them out on facebook so that you can head in when they’ve got some live music or a special going on. Take you’re friends and watch the game (they have plenty of TV’s), enjoy the friendly staff and absolutely amazing food.

Do you have a favorite pub or eatery that you feel is over looked?
