May is National Bike Month and there are so many wonderful ways to celebrate. However, The Awesome Mitten knows of the best way to enjoy this month. Read on to find out details regarding Mission Point Resort‘s Second Annual Tweed Ride. (Yes, you read that correctly, Tweed.)
The stunning Mission Point Resort is located on the East side of Mackinac Island. It sits on 18 acres, right on the shores of Lake Huron. To celebrate the greatness that is National Bike Month, Mission Point is hosting it’s annual Tweed Ride. This is a two-mile bicycle ride that includes a parade through downtown Mackinac Island. Additionally, cyclists will enjoy a trip out to Arch Rock. Dressing up for events always makes them more fun. Don your most elaborate tweed jackets, pants, and hats for this comical event.
Why celebrate National Bike Month on Mackinac Island? Bicycles are the main mode of transportation on this beautiful piece of land. Take a trip up and enjoy the leisure pace of bicycling instead of driving to destinations. It is so refreshing to slow down and enjoy the scenery as it passes. As we all know, Mackinac Island has some of the best scenery around.
Mission Point Resort is hosting this glorious event and has a great package to offer. Stay the weekend at Mission Point and they will provide you with breakfast each morning at the Round Island Bar and Grill. The package also includes a half day bicycle rental so guests can participate in the Tweed Ride. While you’re staying at Mission Point, be sure to check out their new Lakeside Spa and Salon. Mission Point is dedicated to providing guests with a full weekend of wellness. Check out their website for this great package and reservations.
The Second Annual Tweed Ride takes place May 13th at 1pm. It starts on the Great Lawn at Mission Point Resort. It is a free event and open for all to attend. Tweed is not required. Feel free to join us for this great event in any clothing you wish. This is an event that you do not want to miss.
