The Detroit Tigers spring training is in full swing. Naturally, we are all thinking warm thoughts for spring and summer. As Michiganders dream of hot, sunny days at the baseball field, Hudsonville Ice Cream is gearing up to make and distribute Tiger Traxx.
2017 marks the 6th year of the Official Ice Cream of the Detroit Tigers. Tiger Traxx is inspired by a long history of favorite flavors, including Deer Traxx. This delicious ice cream is made up of Hudsonville’s original vanilla base, with chocolate covered, salty pretzel baseballs and thick fudge swirls.
To celebrate the new season of possibilities, Hudsonville Ice Cream invited Tiger baseball players to the creamery. Team members toured the facilities to learn about the ice cream making process and taste-test Tiger Traxx. They all agreed that Tiger Traxx was ‘batting 1000!’ (Pun definitely intended) This limited edition ice cream and annual favorite is available throughout baseball season, April – September. You can find Tiger Traxx at your local grocery store and at the Food Court at Comerica Park.
Cow to Carton
Hudsonville Ice Cream started with local farmers in 1895 as a co-op to help sell their dairy products. More than 120 years later, it now operates out of Holland, Michigan. Hudsonville Ice Cream continues to make premium ice cream using only the freshest ingredients. The company takes pride in using dairy products from farms within 40 miles of the creamery. Many of these farms are still owned and operated by local families. Hudsonville Ice Cream strives to source other products and produce from local and Michigan-based farms as well.
When the dairy products arrive to the creamery, it is converted into ice cream within 24 hours. For safety and quality assurance, the ice cream remains on-site for 48 hours and is then released and shipped to local distributors. Ice cream could be in your local grocery store as quickly as a week – now that’s a fastball!
Celebrating our favorite baseball team isn’t the only way Hudsonville Ice Cream shows love for America’s High-Five. Hudsonville also partners with the Michigan Economic Corporation best known for the Pure Michigan advertisements. Together, they create flavors to help people celebrate places they enjoy and make memories. Fan favorites include: Mackinac Island Fudge, Grand Traverse Bay Cherry Fudge, Lake Superior Thaw, and Sleeping Bear Dunes.
Whether you’re just earning your Tiger stripes, or are a long time fan, you’ll be sure to enjoy Tiger Traxx. You can also find another Hudsonville Ice Cream that will hit it out of the park!
