Founded in 1981, Art Reach of Mid Michigan has provided the Mt. Pleasant community with support and creative outlets for both area and aspiring artists.
Art Reach offers over 15 arts and/or cultural programs annually, many of which benefit and encourage local students and children to get involved in the arts. As of 2013, they have expanded the imaginations and horizons of more than 78,000 people. They even shares data with the Michigan Cultural Data Project in order to portray to the public the positive role of the arts in Michigan’s economy.
Programs offered include:
- Art Walk Central, an August art competition for adults and children, completely open to public
- Chair Affair, a handmade chair painting competition and auction to benefit Art Reach’s children’s programs
- Let’s Do Lunch, an event held the first Wednesday of every month wherein local artists, musicians, or authors demonstrate their talents
- Picture Program, an in-classroom art lesson provided by over 150 volunteers for area schoolchildren.
Upcoming events include (possibly winning free tickets!) for a 2015 Italy Land Tour with Art Reach and Taste of Mt. Pleasant, an annual benefit auction/fundraiser for the arts, on August 20. Art Walk Central winners will be awarded during the event.
Although Art Reach will be closed in September for construction, classes will resume in October and are as follows: “Window Box Found Collages,” “Drawing Manga and Comics,” and ” Oil Pastels.”
Art Reach Mid Michigan is integral to the creative and economic well-being of the Mt. Pleasant area, as well as our Awesome Mitten as whole.
