Nearly 2 acres of wine, beer, and food all in one location downtown? That’s right it’s back! The DeVos Place will again play host to the 6th annual International Wine, Beer & Food Festival November 21-23, 2013.
Over 100 distinguished wineries, distilleries and breweries will provide samples of the best they have to offer. Attendees will get the chance to sample everything from top shelf to experimental wonders. Don’t worry its not all just booze! When you get hungry or need to calm your buzz you can also sample cuisine from some of Grand Rapids’ finest restaurants including Cygnus 27, Reserve Wine & Food, and Terra GR.
New to this year’s event is the expanded beer area on the 3rd floor of DeVos Place. The Brewer’s Loft, sponsored by the Michigan Brewers Guild, will allow guests to sample hand-crafted beverages and mingle with brew masters from across the state and beyond. What would craft beer be without some pub music? Also featured in the Brewer’s Loft is the Really Keely Acoustic Trio who will be playing a selection of acoustic blues, classic pop, and rock throughout the weekend.
When you’ve had just about all you can eat or drink for the day there is still plenty to do! Over 12 food workshops offer a hands-on experience where you can learn anything from how to create your own sushi to easy holiday recipes using wine and beer. Over on the Meijer Food Stage and the Wine, Beer & Spirits Stage you can listen to esteemed individuals like Fred Beultmann, owner of New Holland Brewing Company, and Laura and Seth Porter, founders of the Michigan Beer Blog. Also on tap are classroom-style beverage seminars allowing festival-goers a unique look into the world of wine, beer, and spirits.
Not totally convinced? For an extra price of $35 to $45 attendees can get an excusive multi-course pairing by the chefs and sommeliers of Bar Divani, Tre Cugini, San Chez, Reds on the River, and Spinnaker. And if that still isn’t enough, Ben Flajnik, from The Bachelor Season 16, will be sampling wine from his own Envolve Winery on Thursday from 6-9pm.
Tickets to the 2013 Wine, Beer & Food Festival are on sale now at ticketmaster.com. General admission tickets are $15 for Thursday and $20 for Friday and Saturday. Sample tickets for $.50 are sold at the entrance and redeemed at booths to cover costs of the offered samplings.
