Michigan's Birthday Bake Off - The Awesome Mitten

Our awesome state of Michigan turns 176 on January 26th, 2013, and the Awesome Mitten wants to celebrate! We believe that the most important part of any celebration is the dessert. So, to celebrate the 176th year of our great state, we invite you to create a birthday dessert and enter it into Michigan’s Birthday Bake-Off for the chance to win some cool prizes!

We’ve separated into this into two divisions: professional and general public.

To see the professional entries, and vote on them now, click here.

If you’re interested in entering the general public contest, see below!

The Awesome Mitten was born when I moved back to Michigan from Nashville, TN in September 2010. Almost immediately, I became frustrated. I couldn’t figure out why there weren’t more Michigan residents singing our states praises! I was so irritated, I wrote a Letter to the Editor. Three weeks later, I had started a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and a landing page for the website, determined to do something to make Michigan residents aware of all the cool things going on in their own state.
